‘Looking back’ Heritage Funded community film/arts project with Vulcan Boxing Club 2015-2016
Hull. England
A Heritage funded documentary film and art installation created in collaboration with the young members of Vulcan Amateur Boxing Club (VABC), chronicling the heritage of their club and the historic Hull Fish Trades Boxing Gym.
The characters themselves narrate a series of interflowing tales and themes including: the breakdown of Hull’s fishing industry, Romany Traveller traditions, British boxing, poverty, drug use and escape. The keynote of the film is 'overcoming' - individual and collective.
The film incorporates archive photographs and cine film as well as hand processed Super-8mm.

‘Adrift’ National Lottery Funded community film/arts project 2013-2014 with
Giroscope Housing Charity
Hull. England
This National Lottery Funded participatory-documentary film was created in collaboration with Giroscope a local housing charity, working with young people with particular learning and behavioural needs including ex-offenders. The film tells the story of the demise of Hull's fishing community and involves personal interviews with fishermen and the family members of fishermen lost at sea. The project was an attempt to use art as a way of reconnecting Hull's disenfranchised young people with their maritime heritage.
